Roofing Stories: The Dangers of a Windy Day
When you’re on a schedule, you have to make choices. Windy days are not optimal for roofing, but when you have springtime storms on the horizon, you’ll need to work quickly to get the job done. We were performing a roof replacement for some clients in North Judson, and when there were loose shingles on the roof we found trouble. This is that story.

What Happened?
The Asscher Roofing team debated postponing a job - it was potentially too windy to roof, but there was a storm coming. We decided it was better to protect our customer today, instead of having to leave a tarp for a day or two depending on the weather. During the roof replacement process some loose shingles flew into the air and damaged some window screens.
A tarp in high winds and rain could be unsafe for the home/inhabitants, so with a roof already torn off, it’s best to finish covering it.
The high wind of the day blew off a non-installed shingle and ripped one of the window screens.
The Homeowner would have to replace the screen at their own cost due to the approval they gave us to perform work in high winds.
We care for every customer with the diamond standard of care. We assured the customer that we would take care of the repair, and scheduled a date in which we could come out and complete any necessary fixes.
What Did We Do?
The Diamond Standard means doing the right thing and having integrity. We push ourselves to make choices that help our community and that maintain the level of integrity we look to provide our community. We decided to undertake all the repairs necessary because that’s how you provided high quality roofing services.
We scheduled a day following installation for the repairs to be completed.
We handled the situation professionally and immediately, taking care to ensure that all client needs are met.
We made sure to check in with our client after we assisted with the repair. Because for Asscher Roofing - it’s not good enough to do the right thing, it’s about doing the right thing with high quality customer service and consideration.
Sometimes mistakes happen, doing things right helps you catch them before they escalate, that’s why we learn from every roofing story we live through.
Why this matters to us:
We want everyone to see their roof as a diamond, a beautifully crafted capstone to your home. When you have to live with something you don’t like, that’s not a great life to have. Our mission to be the diamond standard roofing service compels us to put the community, client, and quality first - always. What did we learn from this story? There are a few lessons here: always to the right thing, take care of your community - even if it means making sacrifices, and caring for others means being attentive to their needs.
