Roofing Stories: When Safety and Service Matter
a story about framing, roofing, and siding
The most important part of your roof is your home security. Your roof is built to withstand the elements as well as debris from trees while sheltering you indoors and keeping your home insulated. What happens when we arrive at a roofing project, and we realize the structure is not safe enough for habitation? We’re expert roofing contractors, but we can handle work in framing and light restoration if necessary. We recently worked on a project where the walls weren’t strong enough to hold the roof - find out what we did below.
What Happened?
The Asscher Roofing team was getting ready at our jobsite, performing our pre-inspection when we noticed that the walls supporting the structure had recently undergone fire damage. Upon further inspection it was clear that the entire section of the house that needed to be repaired required structural reinforcements that were up to code standards. We found:
The wood had been damaged by fire beyond repair, leaving no load bearing capacity to the backside structure of the home.
In order to perform our roofing/exterior services, we would need to reinforced all existing structural components of the lower half of the structure, while demolishing and rebuilding the second story.
Without the appropriate construction, and high quality labor - our client would be subject to dangerous conditions, furthermore - the backside of the home was entirely exposed and needed to be covered to ensure no potential rain/water damage was incurred during seasonal storms.
These issues are rare - and normally a client will know beforehand about any potential concerns, as we cover these in our detailed roofing report/estimate. We understand that sometimes there are emergency or uncommon occurrences - so when it comes to providing diamond standard roofing services, we take the utmost care to ensure appropriate communication and safety for everyone involved.
What Did We Do?
So what did we do?
We always report additional work to the homeowner/client whenever necessary by providing pictures and a breakdown of costs and schedule to repair/replace. Once accepted we provided a thorough change order form which outlined all the pricing and work to be conducted, and once signed off - we got to work!
We re-framed the entire first story support system, and ensured that all possible safety violations pertaining to structural integrity were fixed and requisitioned an inspection from a certified home inspector.
Once the home inspector provided us with their approval, we were able to start working on completing the project, adding a second story structure with appropriate walls and materials, while finally adding siding to the exterior by the same Asscher Roofing Diamond Standard that we always follow.
Your safety and security is our job, that's why we train all of our crew members to focus on diamond standard customer service and installation practices. We look for your best interest, in the most ethical way possible to ensure that your roof and your experience is as transparent and brilliant as a diamond.
Why this matters to us:
We built our company around the Diamond Standard of Roofing - this means that we provide our customers with efficient highly trained professional services, equality of price and treatment - no one is treated preferentially, and with education to ensure that you’re aware of all aspects of your project.
